CeeDee Lamb’s second touchdown of the game gave Dak Prescott the Dallas Cowboys’ franchise record for touchdown passes in a 37-20 victory over Washington at AT&T Stadium. The 24-yard fourth-quarter catch was Prescott’s 249th scoring pass, moving him beyond Tony Romo’s mark of 248, according to The Associated Press.
Lamb opened the scoring with a 3-yard reception and finished with eight catches for 153 yards. The AP reported that Lamb has 37 touchdown catches from Prescott, the most by any player, and that he gave Prescott the record-setting football. Prescott said the gesture made him emotional, according to the AP. He completed 26 passes for 279 yards and four touchdowns, with Jake Ferguson catching the other two, from 10 and 12 yards.
Dallas improved to 1-1 after losing its opener 28-20 to the New York Giants. The Cowboys did not turn the ball over, while rookie linebacker Jaishawn Barham forced a fumble on a screen pass early in the third quarter. Dee Winters recovered inside Washington’s 20-yard line, and Ferguson scored two plays later. Brandon Aubrey added field goals of 25, 44 and 60 yards, plus four extra points. Washington held the ball for 31:29 and outgained Dallas 389-332, including 182 rushing yards. Jayden Daniels left with a dislocated left elbow, and imaging showed no fracture. Marcus Mariota finished at quarterback.
Dallas will play the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil on Sunday, Sept. 27, at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:25 p.m. Central, with Dallas designated as the home team.
