Denton will open applications Monday, Oct. 5, for its 2027–28 Community Development Grant Program, which supports nonprofit projects serving residents with low to moderate incomes. Human services, housing and public-facility applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20. Dates and deadlines are local to Denton.

Applicants must attend an in-person training session on Oct. 21 or Oct. 29 at the Development Service Center, 401 N. Elm St. The city’s Community Development page links to training registration and the application portal.

The city has also changed application requirements. Salary, fringe-benefit, equipment and supply costs are ineligible, according to the department’s notice. Applicants must track service units and select no more than two program outcomes for reporting.

For housing and public-facility projects, the city says zoning compliance and civil-engineering plans should be completed by the application deadline, with permits completed no later than October 2027. A public facility must be owned by the city or a nonprofit and open during normal working hours.
