Lagway leads Bears to decisive win
Visiting Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway proved the difference-maker in a dominant performance, throwing for four touchdowns and 306 yards to lead the Bears to a 55-19 victory over the Arizona State Sun Devils. The game was played at Mountain America Stadium in Tempe, Arizona, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, before a crowd of 54,063.
Baylor’s offensive explosion left little room for the host team to mount a serious comeback, as the visitors controlled the tempo and the scoreboard from the opening drive.
Early momentum shifts
Arizona State struck first, with Carson Smith kicking a 46-yard field goal to give the Sun Devils a 3-0 lead. However, Baylor responded immediately. Ryelan Morris broke free for a 63-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a successful kick by Rhett Armstrong.
Later in the first quarter, Tony Livingston caught a 3-yard pass from Lagway, extending the Bears' lead to 14-3. The visitors continued their pressure in the second quarter. Louis Brown IV caught a 10-yard pass from Lagway for a touchdown, making it 21-3.
Smith cut the deficit to 21-6 with a 32-yard field goal, but Cutter Boley connected with Omarion Miller for a 30-yard touchdown pass, and Armstrong added a 36-yard field goal to end the half with Baylor leading 24-13.
