West Pecan Street is set to become a Halloween-themed pavement gallery Saturday, Oct. 3, as artists create entries for Denton’s Chalk Art Walk.

The organizer says artist registration is full. Registered participants have from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to finish original, chalk-only designs suitable for an all-ages audience in spaces measuring 7 by 10 feet.

Visitors get their say beginning Sunday, Oct. 4. Public voting runs through Oct. 23, with winners announced Oct. 28 and the display scheduled to remain through Oct. 31. Organizers plan to seal the completed artwork on the pavement for viewing.

The winning design is also slated for a sticker and postcard for the 2027 Halloween celebration. Denton’s Planning and Transportation departments sponsor the event.

Drivers should check parking hours separately from the artists’ morning start. The official visitor guide lists public entry to the North Central Texas College garage at 319 E. Sycamore St. from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Closing time ends new entry; it does not require parked drivers to leave immediately.

The organizer’s event and visitor pages carry the schedule and parking information for planning a trip downtown.
