During Denton’s September 22 City Council work session, a council member requested a future discussion of reducing or waiving development impact fees for permanent supportive and deeply affordable housing.

The city’s automated meeting transcript records the member citing McAdams Haven as an example while seeking a citywide policy discussion. The request was for staff to present policy options at a work session.

Other members supported discussing the idea, while one member opposed it. The exchange concerned whether to explore a policy and how broadly it should apply.

The same September 22 agenda item included a request to review the downtown tax increment reinvestment zone’s funding categories. Members also voiced support for discussing that subject.
