A Late Strike Seals the Win
The Dallas Cowboys overcame a resilient Houston Texans squad to claim a 34-30 victory at Reliant Stadium, driven by a dominant receiving performance from CeeDee Lamb and precise passing from Dak Prescott. Lamb emerged as the decisive factor in the final moments, catching a crucial 12-yard touchdown pass with time winding down to put the visitors ahead for good.
Lamb finished with 17 receptions for 189 yards and one touchdown, serving as the primary target in Dallas’s offensive attack. Prescott completed 32 of 45 passes for 335 yards and matched Lamb with a single touchdown. The Cowboys’ ground game was also effective, led by Javonte Williams who rushed for 62 yards on 19 carries and accounted for three touchdowns.
Texans’ Early Lead and Field Goal Barrage
Houston controlled the early tempo, taking a 7-3 lead into the second quarter on a 7-yard touchdown pass from C.J. Stroud to Nico Collins. The Texans' kicking game proved pivotal in a low-scoring first half.
Ka’imi Fairbairn connected on field goals of 51, 39, and 54 yards, while Brandon Aubrey added two for Dallas. Houston held a 16-6 advantage at halftime after Fairbairn’s third kick extended the lead.
Stroud threw for 347 yards on 21-of-31 passing, including two touchdowns, both to Collins. Collins finished with seven receptions for 118 yards and two scores. David Montgomery contributed on the ground with 24 rushing yards on ten carries, though the Texans’ offense struggled to sustain drives outside of their early success.
