Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton is one of several Texas Health Resources hospitals honored this year by the American Heart Association for how they treat heart attack, stroke and diabetes patients.
Across the system, 16 Texas Health facilities earned the association's Get With The Guidelines honors for heart care, and 14 were recognized for stroke and diabetes care, according to an announcement published by the Mansfield Record.
The Denton hospital's honors include:
- STEMI Receiving Gold Plus with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll. STEMI is the most dangerous kind of heart attack, caused by a complete blockage of a coronary artery. Receiving centers are the higher-level hospitals that take in and treat those patients. Denton was one of eight Texas Health hospitals at the Gold Plus level.
- NSTEMI Gold with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll, for care of heart attacks caused by a partial blockage.
- Stroke Gold Plus with Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite and Target: Type 2 Diabetes. To earn stroke recognition, hospitals must meet set quality measures for diagnosing and treating patients over a period of time, 24 months or more for the gold level.
- North Texas 2026 Regional Report Mission: Lifeline Award, one of nine Texas Health hospitals recognized.
Nearby Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Flower Mound picked up several honors for resuscitation care.
"Texas Health is committed to providing North Texans with the care they deserve, right where they live," said Josh Floren, the Hospital Channel's chief operating officer.
