A Historic Second-Half Surge
Conner Weigman emerged as the decisive force in the No. 20 Houston Cougars' 27-17 victory over the visiting UCF Knights on Saturday at TDECU Stadium. The quarterback’s performance was defined by his ability to convert late-game pressure into points, scoring three touchdowns in the second half to seal the win.
The game, which saw an attendance of 25,593, featured a stark contrast between the first two quarters and the final two, with Houston completely reversing a 10-0 deficit to take control of the contest.
Early Knight Dominance
The UCF Knights opened the scoring with a 13-yard pass from Keyone Jenkins to Josh Derry, giving them a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. Jenkins continued to direct the offense in the second period, setting up a 30-yard field goal for Will Stone. This extended the Knights' advantage to 10-0 heading into halftime.
During this stretch, Jenkins completed 23 of 35 passes for 253 yards, including one touchdown and one interception. Josh Derry was the primary target for the visitors, catching seven passes for 101 yards and a touchdown, while Duke Watson added 50 rushing yards on nine carries.
