A Late Surge Seals Victory
The Dallas Cowboys overcame a resilient Houston Texans defense to secure a 34-30 victory at Reliant Stadium on Sunday, driven by a prolific aerial attack from quarterback Dak Prescott and a record-setting receiving performance from CeeDee Lamb. Despite trailing for much of the contest, Dallas found its offensive rhythm in the second half, culminating in a decisive touchdown pass to Lamb that sealed the win.
Prescott completed 32 of 45 passes for 335 yards and one touchdown. His connection with Lamb was particularly vital; the wide receiver finished with 17 receptions for 189 yards and a crucial late score. Running back Javonte Williams also contributed significantly to the ground game, carrying the ball 19 times for 62 yards and scoring three touchdowns.
Texans Hold Early Lead
Houston started strong, leveraging the home-field advantage to take control early. Quarterback C.J. Stroud orchestrated the opening drive effectively, launching a 7-yard touchdown pass to Nico Collins in the first quarter. Collins was a dominant force for the Texans, finishing with seven receptions for 118 yards and two touchdowns.
The Cowboys responded with field goals from kicker Brandon Aubrey, who connected on kicks of 39 and 50 yards. However, Houston’s special teams unit kept the pressure on with three consecutive field goals from Ka'imi Fairbairn (51, 39, and 54 yards), pushing the lead to 16-6 at halftime.
The Texans’ rushing attack was less potent, with David Montgomery carrying the ball 10 times for just 24 yards.
