Denton ISD families can review proposed school boundaries at two October meetings as the district prepares to open Mia Price High School in August 2028.

The proposal would change parts of the attendance zones for Calhoun, Rodriguez and Strickland middle schools and Braswell, Denton, Guyer and Ryan high schools. No elementary boundaries would change, and not every family at those campuses would receive a different assignment.

For now, students would stay with their existing assignments. The district says the proposal would take effect in the 2028–29 school year, leaving 2026–27 and 2027–28 unchanged.

Both community meetings begin at 6 p.m. and offer the same presentation:

Oct. 15: Rodriguez Middle School, 8650 Martop Road, Oak Point.

Oct. 22: Strickland Middle School, 3003 N. Bell Avenue, Denton.

Families can examine the proposed maps and ask questions before the district presents its recommendation to trustees. A board workshop is scheduled for Nov. 10, with final boundaries expected to come up for consideration Dec. 8. Approval is still pending.

Families hoping to keep a student at their current campus will be able to apply through the district’s Request to Remain process in fall 2027. Applying does not guarantee approval.

The district’s boundary page includes maps, frequently asked questions and a way to submit feedback. Families should use those maps to check their address rather than assume that every student at an affected school would move.
