Aubrey is about 11 miles northeast of Denton. In the wider Dallas-Fort Worth area, Midas Investments and GC Land Partners have acquired adjoining parcels totaling 102 acres east of Pilot Point in northern Denton County for the planned Pilot Point Town Center.
Midas bought 53.8 acres, and GC Land Partners purchased 49 acres. Pilot Point’s City Council approved zoning and a $15 million incentive package for the property in May. Plans call for residences, commercial space, restaurants, fast-food locations and large retailers that could sell firearms.
The zoning allows buildings up to four stories and up to 28 housing units per acre. A trail system is also planned to connect the residential and commercial portions of the project.
The property is roughly a mile north of Lantern, a Hillwood project expected to have 2,000 homes and supported by a reported $1.2 billion investment. Nearby developments include Centurion American’s Bryson Ranch, planned for 3,000 homes, and Green Brick Partners’ 586-acre Waterside.
Pilot Point lies about 52 miles from the interior of the Dallas-Fort Worth area and approximately 45 miles by car from Thackerville, identified as the nearest Oklahoma city in the report. FM 1385 and nearby U.S. Highway 380 provide access.
