Denton police are investigating gunfire early Sunday, Oct. 11, at an apartment complex just east of Texas Woman's University. No one was reported hurt, but a parked car was damaged, the Denton Record-Chronicle reported.

Officers from the Denton and TWU police departments were sent to the 1900 block of North Ruddell Street at about 4:05 a.m. after several people called to report hearing a number of shots near the complex. Officers found several spent shell casings outside the complex's northernmost buildings.

One witness told police he thought someone had fired into the air. Officers later found an empty, parked vehicle with its rear window shattered.

Police talked with about 25 people in the area. Some said they heard arguing inside an apartment before the shots. One witness pointed officers to an apartment where the person believed the shooter might be, but did not know what led to the shooting or who was involved.

The source report did not mention any arrest, and the investigation is continuing.
