Residents in the unincorporated community of Lantana, located in Denton County, have been instructed to boil their water before consumption. The directive was issued following a water main break and a subsequent power failure, according to a notice posted on the community's official website.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality mandated the advisory after water pressure dropped below a specific threshold. While no contaminants have been detected in the supply, the loss of pressure triggered the requirement for the notice. Officials clarified that the issue stems from the pressure drop rather than confirmed contamination.
Until a subsequent notice confirms the water is safe, residents are advised to bring water to a vigorous boil for two minutes prior to drinking or using it for other purposes. The advisory remains active until the Lantana Water District issues an all-clear signal.
