Denton schedules Oct. 1 kickoff for month of Halloween events

Denton plans to open its Halloween season with the Blocktober Party and Pumpkin Drop on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Quakertown Civic Center, 321 E. McKinney St.

The city’s Sept. 28 announcement lists more than 400 free or low-cost events during the season, which runs through Nov. 1.

The opening party includes a pumpkin drop, games, a touch-a-truck exhibit and food available for purchase. Later highlights include Hallo-Wing at Denton Enterprise Airport on Oct. 17 and a UNT basketball event on the downtown square Oct. 21.

A National Weather Service flood watch covers Denton from Wednesday afternoon through Friday morning. Visitors should check the city’s event listings and weather updates before heading out.
