Fort Worth is about 36 miles south of Denton. Boyd Independent School District held its first public meeting following the Boyd Police Department's disclosure of an alleged hazing investigation involving the Boyd High School field house. Four students have been arrested in the case.
Police received a criminal complaint Sept. 3 alleging that a 14-year-old football player was hazed by older students inside the field house. The principal and athletic director spoke at the meeting, but did not discuss the allegations outlined in police reports and court records.
Superintendent Tom Woody later said the district was upset both by what happened and by the incident becoming public, adding that many people were commenting on it. Police and court documents identify Chason Lee-Earl Tucker and Noah Davis Stevens, both 17, as being prosecuted as adults on felony allegations of unlawful restraint and bodily harm to a child.
The other two arrested students are being handled as juveniles.
Boyd police said the inquiry is still active. Investigators said evidence will be examined to determine whether further charges are warranted under Texas law based on the conduct or failure to act of anyone involved.
