Deontae Myers, 26, was taken into custody and booked into the Denton County jail after being discharged from a hospital. The arrest follows a high-speed motorcycle pursuit that left a Roanoke police officer with serious injuries.
Myers faces charges of evading arrest with a vehicle causing serious bodily injury and reckless driving. He was riding a 2021 Yamaha motorcycle during the incident. According to the Roanoke Police Department, Myers refused to stop when Cpl. Kevin Buchanan attempted to pull him over near the Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday night.
Police reported that Myers was traveling westbound on Highway 114 at high speed. The pursuit continued after Myers ran a red light at the intersection with Interstate 35W. Cpl. Buchanan followed on his police motorcycle, and the chase ended when Myers collided with a 2023 Ford Transit van.
During the crash, Cpl. Buchanan attempted to take evasive action but also struck the van.
