Denton logged 13 triple-digit days through Sept. 29

Denton’s weather station recorded 13 days with temperatures reaching at least 100 degrees during September’s first 29 days, according to preliminary National Weather Service observations.

The station’s average temperature for that period was 87 degrees, or 10.7 degrees above the normal reported in the NWS summary. Every day in the available September record reached at least 90 degrees.

The highest reading was 103 degrees on Sept. 12. The month’s lowest temperature through Sept. 29 was 66 degrees on Sept. 26, while average daily highs stood at 98.5 degrees.

These are observations for the Denton station, rather than measurements for every part of Denton County. The report was issued Sept. 30 and does not yet include that day’s temperatures, so the figures should not be read as a final September total or a verified historical record.
