DJ Lagway has been cleared by Baylor’s medical staff to return against Colorado after missing the team’s Sept. 5 game with an ankle injury. Coach Dave Aranda had forecast earlier in the week that the starting quarterback could come back. Baylor and Colorado both entered the matchup with 2-1 records.
Nate Bennett will return to the backup role after making two starts. He completed 75% of his passes across those games, totaling 567 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions. Bennett also had 15 rushing yards and two scores.
Baylor is expected to have wide receiver Jadon Porter and defensive back Devin Turner, who had been listed as probable, along with defensive tackle Hosea Wheeler, whose status improved from questionable later in the week.
Baylor’s unavailable players are Jacob Redding, Jamarion Richardson, Devonte Tezino, Cayden Tone and Ashton Jones. Colorado will be without Danny Scudero, Preston Ashley, Colby Johnson, Vili Taufatofua, Demetrius Hunter and Charlie Williams. Scudero and Williams have 94 combined yards from scrimmage and one touchdown this season.
Xavier Payne was listed as a game-time decision. The game is set for Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. Central at McLane Stadium, with ESPN2 carrying Lowell Galindo and Kirk Morrison’s call.
