Texas State has been confirmed as a non-conference opponent for Texas Tech in the 2030 football season. The Bobcats will travel to Lubbock for a matchup on Sept. 14, 2030, according to a contract reviewed by FBSchedules.com. The agreement includes a game guarantee of $1.2 million that Texas Tech must pay to Texas State.

This addition finalizes the Red Raiders' non-conference schedule for that year. They are set to begin the 2030 campaign against Arkansas in Las Vegas on Aug. 31, followed by a home game against Fresno State one week before the Texas State contest.

The 2030 slot was previously open due to recent cancellations and buyouts. Mississippi State dropped a two-game series for 2028 and 2029 without penalty after changes to the SEC scheduling model. North Carolina State used a buyout option for a 2027 game in Lubbock, while Texas Tech chose to buy out a 2027 road game against North Texas.

As a result, the program still needs one non-conference opponent each for 2027, 2028, and 2029. Currently, Texas Tech has two non-conference home games scheduled for each of those years, with financial guarantees ranging from $300,000 to $1 million.

Other long-term adjustments include a home game against Arkansas in 2034, which was moved from 2030 to allow both schools to participate in the Vegas Kickoff Classic. A 2033 road game at Oregon was also shifted from its original 2024 date to preserve the Oregon and Oregon State rivalry that year.
