Against Houston last Friday, Castellanos threw an interception on his first play while trying to throw the pass away, Red Raiders Wire reported. He later returned near the goal line and reached the end zone on a 3-yard run. His appearances alongside Hammond have produced both effective plays and turnovers.
Castellanos joined Texas Tech late in preseason camp as an emergency backup. The move came after the transfer portal had closed and Brendan Sorsby’s situation had concluded. Hammond remains in recovery from a torn ACL, according to the report.
