Nico Collins has been ruled out of Houston’s Sunday meeting with the Indianapolis Colts after missing practice during the week. The Texans receiver suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain in practice last week and also missed Houston’s loss to Cincinnati, leaving him unavailable for a second consecutive game. Both Houston and Indianapolis enter the matchup at 0-2. The Texans scored six points in a 20-6 defeat to the Bengals. Houston could turn to tight end Dalton Schultz for a larger role.
Against Cincinnati, Schultz made 12 catches on 14 targets and gained 140 yards, with eight of those receptions coming in the fourth quarter. He has 16 catches for 175 yards over two games, the team’s highest totals.
The Texans may also use additional tight ends or rely more heavily on their rushing attack. David Montgomery and Woody Marks had limited results against Cincinnati, as Houston running backs averaged 1.5 yards per carry. Indianapolis has given up 354 rushing yards and 5.4 yards per carry this season. Houston’s remaining listed receivers are Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson, Jaylin Noel and Jared Wayne.
