His agent, Mike McCartney, confirmed the agreement via social media on Thursday. The deal secures the tight end's status with the team, as he was previously scheduled to become a restricted free agent in 2027.
Spann-Ford joined the league in 2024 as an undrafted free agent out of Minnesota. Since arriving, he has played in all 34 games for Dallas. His consistent performance led to him replacing Luke Schoonmaker as the team's second tight end.
Schoonmaker had been selected in the second round of the 2023 draft. Before this new contract took effect, Spann-Ford was slated to receive $966,666 for the current campaign.
The player's impact extends beyond his receiving numbers of 18 catches, 178 yards, and one touchdown. His versatility is a significant factor in his value. In the last two seasons, he has been on the field for 25.5 percent of offensive snaps.
Additionally, he recorded 357 special teams plays last year, cementing his role as a key contributor on that unit. McCartney did not disclose the average annual value or specific financial structure of the extension.
