Guard Laken Tomlinson is moving from the Dallas Cowboys' practice squad to the Green Bay Packers, according to NFL Network reporters Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. Tomlinson signed with Dallas earlier this month when All-Pro guard Tyler Smith went on injured reserve after thumb surgery. He did not appear in either of the Cowboys' first two games.
Smith can return after Week 4, while Tomlinson's timing for his first Packers appearance has not been established.
The transaction gives Dallas two offensive linemen on its practice squad, Marcellus Johnson and Wanya Morris. Johnson is listed at tackle and has yet to play in an NFL game. Morris has lined up at both left and right tackle during his three-year career.
Tomlinson, 34, entered the league as Detroit's first-round selection in the 2015 draft. He has played 173 games and started 162 across 11 NFL seasons, including a 2021 Pro Bowl selection with San Francisco. His other teams have included the New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans, for whom he played 10 games in 2025.
Green Bay has had offensive-line injuries, with Aaron Banks and Zach Bako-Bewele missing Week 3. Bako-Bewele will miss the season with a torn patellar tendon. Jordan Love has been sacked eight times, and Pro Football Focus credited the Packers with allowing 57 pressures through three games.
