The Houston Texans are considering lineup changes before facing the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium. Coach DeMeco Ryans discussed the situation Wednesday at the Houston Methodist Training Center as Houston prepares for its AFC South opener.
C.J. Stroud was pressured on 45.5% of his dropbacks against Cincinnati’s man coverage, and the Texans managed 18 rushing yards on 12 attempts. Right tackle Trent Brown received much of the criticism.
Blake Fisher, a 2024 second-round selection from Notre Dame, could challenge for the job after a strong training camp. Wyatt Teller also could become a full-time starting guard beside rookie center Keylan Rutledge. Houston has not identified which players will start.
Indianapolis will be without receiver Alec Pierce, who went on injured reserve because of a heel injury, according to Shane Steichen. The Colts signed veteran Darius Slayton and put Eli Pancol on their practice squad. Josh Downs, Keenan Allen and rookie tight end Tyler Warren are among the remaining receiving options, while Taylor is described as an underneath threat.
Houston is still waiting for the official status of Pro Bowl receiver Nico Collins, who has a hamstring issue.
