Trent Brown can now earn as much as $2.5 million through 2026 playing-time incentives with Houston, up from the previous ceiling of $1.5 million. Spotrac’s Michael Ginnitti reported the revised terms Sept. 16 in a post on X.
The contract provides a $500,000 bonus at each of five playing-time marks: 50%, 55%, 60%, 65% and 70%. Over The Cap’s Troy Chapman previously reported that the adjustment did not change Brown’s salary-cap charge or initial cash flow, because the new incentives were added to the original package.
Houston re-signed Brown during the 2026 offseason to a one-year, $5.5 million contract. Injuries limited him at the start and end of 2025, when he appeared in seven regular-season games and one playoff game. He stayed with the team through the offseason program and opened Week 1 at right tackle.
Brown has not started a full regular-season schedule since 2022, with New England. Pro Football Focus rated him Houston’s sixth-best pass blocker in Week 1 and its third-highest-rated offensive lineman in that category, behind Aireontae Ersery and Evan Brown. Brown was a 2015 seventh-round pick by San Francisco and has also played for Cincinnati and Las Vegas.
He has started 104 of 111 career games.
