Dallas Cowboys safety Jalen Thompson was injured during the second quarter against the Baltimore Ravens after his left leg was caught awkwardly on a tackle attempt. He could not put weight on the leg, limped to the blue medical tent and was listed as questionable to return with a hamstring injury.

The injury adds to the Cowboys’ secondary concerns ahead of Week 3. Free safety Malik Hooker remains out because of a forearm injury suffered in Week 1, while starting cornerback Cobie Durant was sidelined in Week 2 with a hamstring problem. Hooker’s replacement, PJ Locke, is unavailable with a foot injury.

Dallas promoted Reddy Steward, a slot defender, from its practice squad before the game. Caleb Downs, a rookie selected in the first round, has safety experience from college and has been on the practice squad. Alijah Clark took Thompson’s place next to Markquese Bell.

Bell was called for a defensive pass interference penalty that helped set up Derrick Henry’s touchdown in the first half. Further information about Thompson’s injury and its effect on the defense was not available.
