Nico Collins was not present during the portion of Houston's Wednesday practice open to reporters, leaving his availability against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3 unresolved. The Texans wide receiver is recovering from a Grade 1 hamstring strain sustained before Houston's Week 2 game against Cincinnati and has now missed three straight practice sessions.
Houston enters the week 0-2. Collins also missed the Bengals game, in which no Texans wide receiver recorded more than three catches or 40 yards. Dalton Schultz led the passing game with 12 receptions for 140 yards. Xavier Hutchinson, Kayshon Boutte and Jaylin Noel combined for seven catches.
Schultz, offensive linemen Trent Brown and Ed Ingram, and edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney also were not seen during the media-access portion of practice. No further details about their statuses were provided. If Collins cannot play, Hutchinson, Boutte and Noel would be expected to take on larger roles, while offensive coordinator Nick Caley would prepare for another game without Houston's top wideout.
His availability is not yet clear, and the source said Collins could return in Week 4 against the Dallas Cowboys.
