Nico Collins will miss Houston’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals because of a Grade 1 hamstring injury. The wide receiver was hurt during Wednesday’s practice, then sat out the Texans’ next two workouts before being listed as out on the final injury report.
Collins’ status for Houston’s Week 3 meeting with the Indianapolis Colts has not been determined. Aaron Wilson reported that the team is still assessing when Collins might return. No additional details about his recovery were provided.
In Houston’s season-opening 36-31 defeat to Buffalo, Collins recorded seven catches, 75 yards and a touchdown. He has been one of the Texans’ leading offensive contributors during the last three seasons. Houston is expected to spread his role among several players against Cincinnati, including Kayshon Boutte, Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel. Jayden Higgins will not be available after a season-ending ACL injury.
C.J. Stroud threw passes to 11 players in the opener, giving Houston multiple receiving options as the team seeks its first victory.
