Dalton Schultz could become a larger part of Houston’s passing attack in Week 2 if wide receiver Nico Collins is unavailable against the Cincinnati Bengals. Collins injured his hamstring during Wednesday’s practice, according to an SI.com report citing ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Houston does not believe the injury is serious, but his status for the game is still uncertain.
The Texans may take a cautious approach because Collins has previously dealt with injuries, including a Grade 2 hamstring strain in 2024 that led to injured reserve. His absence would alter Houston’s receiving group and could result in additional targets for Schultz.
Schultz led the Texans in receptions in 2025, with 82 catches and 777 yards. His usage also increased last season when Collins departed a Week 7 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks. Schultz was targeted 10 times and recorded nine catches totaling 98 yards in that game. The report did not include a final update on whether Collins will face Cincinnati.
