Mets Take Early Lead
Sean Manaea anchored the New York Mets' offense with a strong pitching performance, allowing only two runs over six innings. The Mets took the initial lead in the third inning when Juan Soto singled to center field, allowing Francisco Alvarez to score. The Rangers quickly answered in the same frame when Jung doubled to right, bringing home Jansen to tie the game at one apiece.
Rangers Battle Back
The Texas Rangers took a brief 2-1 lead in the fourth inning when Benge scored on an error, with Alvarez also reaching on fielding mistakes. However, the Mets regained momentum in the bottom of the fourth. Diaz hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Nimmo and moving Foscue to second and Duran to third.
Langford followed with a sacrifice fly to left, allowing Duran to score and Foscue to reach third. The Mets led 3-2 entering the fifth.
Mets Extend Advantage
In the sixth inning, the Mets extended their lead with two runs. Alvarez doubled to center, scoring Semien and Benge. Torrens then hit a sacrifice fly to first, allowing Alvarez to score and increasing the Mets' lead to 5-3. In the seventh inning, Benge doubled to right, scoring Baty to make the final score 6-3 in favor of the visitors.
