The University of North Texas reported record turnout for its Oct. 1 University Research Day in Denton, with more than 700 presenters and attendees taking part.

In a recap released Thursday, Oct. 8, UNT said the event displayed more than 475 research posters across two rooms on the University Union’s third floor.

Artificial intelligence and data science accounted for about 40% of the posters, up from less than 10% in 2023, according to the university. The number of health-research posters more than doubled. Those figures describe the event’s presentations, not the university’s entire research portfolio.

The program also included discussions about moving university research into the marketplace, the effects of AI on learning, and resources for postdoctoral researchers and early-career scientists. Networking sessions brought together students and faculty working across different fields.
