North Texas climbed out of a two-set hole Sunday, Oct. 4, only to lose the deciding set at Charlotte and finish its road volleyball match with a 3–2 defeat.
The Mean Green lost 22–25, 14–25, 25–23, 25–18, 9–15 at Halton Arena. The result left UNT at 8–7 overall and 1–3 in American Conference play.
The turnaround came through a much sharper fourth set. North Texas recorded 17 kills and just two attack errors in that frame, hitting .326 to send the match to a fifth. UNT then moved ahead 5–2 in the decider before Charlotte won seven consecutive points and took control.
For all the progress during the comeback, mistakes at the net were costly over the full match. UNT had 63 kills but 40 attack errors, leaving its hitting percentage at .120. Charlotte recorded 16 blocks.
