North Texas women’s golf cut 15 strokes from its second-round score Monday, Oct. 5, closing the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in sixth place at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

The Mean Green finished with a 300 after rounds of 298 and 315, producing a 54-hole total of 913, or 49 over par. The final round was a recovery from Sunday’s difficult outing, although it left North Texas well behind champion Alabama, which finished at 4 over.

For Denton’s Mean Green teams, the three-day trip also brought another strong men’s finish. North Texas placed third at 27 over, completing rounds of 286, 309 and 296 for an 891 total.

The men began Monday in second, but UNC Greensboro moved past them with a closing 281. Host Arkansas won at 6 under, followed by UNCG at 16 over. North Texas still secured its third top-three result in as many tournaments this season.

The women are scheduled to return Oct. 18-19 at the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos. The men’s next event begins Oct. 19 at The Clerico.
