Denton ISD's newest high school would open with roughly 1,128 students in 2028-29, according to the attendance boundary proposal trustees are scheduled to discuss in a workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
The presentation from Assistant Superintendent Lacey Rainey's office lays out what the district expects after families were invited to comment on draft maps last month. It is a workshop item, so no vote is listed for Tuesday.
Enrollment projections
The district's projections for the first four years with Price in operation:
- Price High: 1,128 in 2028-29, rising to 1,273 by 2031-32. The first class would be built from an estimated 300 students each in grades 9, 10 and 11 and 250 seniors.
- Guyer High: 2,810 in 2028-29 and between 2,806 and 2,905 through 2031-32.
- Braswell High: 1,769 in 2028-29, climbing to 1,883.
- Denton High: about 1,913 to 1,935 across the four years.
- Ryan High: 1,824, slipping to 1,717.
For comparison, a separate fall growth report in the same meeting packet lists Guyer's capacity at 2,800 and Braswell's at 2,800.
Middle school lines would move too. The presentation projects Rodriguez Middle School at 807 students in 2028-29 and 949 by 2031-32, while Crownover drops from 965 to 854 and Strickland from 975 to 835. McMath would grow from 505 to 576.
What families said
The district collected comments at community meetings at Strickland and Rodriguez middle schools on Oct. 15 and 19 and through an online ThoughtExchange survey Oct. 20-26.
The slide summarizing that feedback lists six themes: many parents want their children to stay at their current campus, many want the school closest to home, and families raised bus service, communication through summer 2028, course offerings at Price and the ACE Center, and how to get involved at a new school.
