Overmyer sets the pace

Patrick Overmyer caught four touchdown passes from Conner Weigman, and Houston Cougars defeated Kansas State Wildcats 35-16 on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Overmyer finished with eight receptions for 83 yards, while Weigman completed 19 of 30 passes for 242 yards and four touchdowns.

Overmyer opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown reception in the first period, followed by Jonathan Dimas’ kick. Kansas State answered with Luis Rodriguez’s 29-yard field goal, leaving Houston ahead 7-3 after one quarter.

Houston builds its lead

Houston added two touchdowns in the second period. Overmyer scored on a 2-yard pass from Weigman, and Makhi Hughes ran 13 yards for another touchdown. Dimas made both extra points, sending the Cougars into halftime with a 21-3 advantage.

Houston’s quarter-by-quarter scoring was 7, 14, 14 and 0. Kansas State’s totals were 3, 0, 6 and 7.

Overmyer added two more touchdown catches in the third period, on passes of 8 and 2 yards from Weigman, with Dimas converting after both.

Wildcats answer late

Kansas State scored its first touchdown between those two Houston scores, when Garrett Oakley caught a 13-yard pass from Avery Johnson. The two-point pass failed, leaving the score 28-9 until Overmyer's final catch put Houston ahead 35-9 after three quarters.

The Wildcats closed the scoring in the fourth period on Jaron Tibbs’ 6-yard touchdown reception from Johnson. Rodriguez made the kick for the final 35-16 margin.

Leaders and records

Houston’s Re'Shaun Sanford II carried 20 times for 90 yards. Kansas State’s Rodney Fields Jr. had 14 carries for 46 yards. Johnson completed 16 of 30 passes for 182 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Oakley made three receptions for 49 yards and one touchdown.

The result left Houston at 5-1 and Kansas State at 3-2. Attendance was 51,569.
