Tayven Jackson threw for 349 yards and five touchdowns Saturday as North Texas beat Charlotte 50-10 before a crowd of 17,411 at DATCU Stadium.

The win was UNT's third straight and lifted the Mean Green to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the American Conference. North Texas now has a bye week.

Jackson, making his sixth start for UNT, was nearly perfect early. He hit on each of his first 14 attempts and had 298 passing yards by halftime, and coach Neal Brown took him out early in the second half. ESPN's box score shows him finishing 24 of 31.

Justin Stevenson was Jackson's top target, catching nine passes for 122 yards and two scores. In all, Jackson completed passes to nine receivers, and four of them caught touchdowns.

The outing came a week after Jackson threw for 322 yards and four touchdowns against Tulsa but also turned the ball over three times. North Texas had no turnovers against Charlotte. Brown said the team spent the week working on protecting the ball in the pocket and on running when protection breaks down.
