A motorcyclist died following a traffic collision involving an SUV on Bonnie Brae Street in Denton on Wednesday evening. The incident prompted a multi-hour road closure while officers gathered evidence at the scene.

Denton police received reports of the crash around 6:45 p.m. near the intersection of North Bonnie Brae and West Prairie Street. Responding medics transported the motorcyclist, identified as a man, to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead by staff.

Police spokesperson Lacy Fenn stated that the motorcyclist was the only individual transported from the scene. The driver of the SUV stayed at the location and worked with investigators throughout the evening.

All lanes on Bonnie Brae Street between Louise Street and the Interstate 35 service road were shut down to allow for the crash investigation. Authorities reopened the roadway by 9:10 p.m.

Officers are continuing to examine the details of the collision. The specific circumstances that led to the crash have not yet been determined.
