Texas Health Resources will administer free influenza vaccines to adults and children older than nine years at six locations in Denton, Lewisville, and Flower Mound. The clinics run from September 20 through November 2 and are open to all individuals regardless of insurance status. Children in the eligible age group require parental consent to receive the shot.
The vaccination series is part of an annual initiative by Texas Health’s Faith Community Nursing Program. This program aims to reduce barriers to healthcare by partnering with local congregations and community spaces. According to Caryn Paulos, the program director, these partnerships allow care to be delivered in settings that align with residents' cultural and belief systems.
Paulos noted that holding clinics at places of worship helps overcome common obstacles such as lack of transportation, time constraints, or insurance issues.
Scheduled appointments are available at the following venues and times:
- September 20, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church on N. Bonnie Brae St.
- October 2, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., at the Islamic Association of Lewisville/Flower Mound on Peters Colony Road.
- October 4, 9 to 11 a.m., at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church on W. Oak St.
- October 6, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Denton County Courthouse Amphitheater on Courthouse Drive.
- October 10, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Morse Street Baptist Church on Morse St.
- October 24, 8 to 10:30 a.m., at Southmont Baptist Church on Pennsylvania Drive.
