District play begins this week for many high school football programs in the Dallas area, with several divisions featuring unusually deep talent pools. The most competitive matchups appear in Districts 5-6A, 6-6A, 10-6A, and 11-6A, where multiple undefeated teams and state-ranked squads are vying for supremacy.
District 5-6A currently includes four undefeated programs: Denton Braswell, Flower Mound, Little Elm, and Lewisville. Flower Mound recently entered the regional rankings following a 42-24 victory over Fort Worth Boswell in Week 3. While The Dallas Morning News has selected Denton Guyer, a 2025 6A Division II regional finalist, to capture the district title, Lewisville presents a significant challenge.
The Lions lead the area with the second-highest scoring offense among 6A teams, averaging 51.3 points per game.
In District 6-6A, Allen, Prosper, and Prosper Walnut Grove all enter play with perfect records. Allen holds the top spot in the local 6A rankings and ranks fourth statewide. The Dallas Morning News picked Allen to win the district after the team went undefeated in district play last season and reached the 6A Division I state semifinals.
Prosper, ranked fourth locally and tenth statewide, climbed five spots in the statewide poll after defeating four-time state champion Austin Westlake 49-40 in Week 3.
District 10-6A features North Forney, Rockwall, and Rockwall-Heath among the area’s elite teams. Longview, an East Texas powerhouse, ranks 16th in the statewide poll. The district was closely contested last year, with North Forney and Forney finishing 5–1, while Longview and Heath ended at 4–2.
The Dallas Morning News selected North Forney to win this year’s division, though the program enters Week 4 seeking its first victory after narrow losses to Prosper and Lancaster.
