Denton will hold a public-input meeting on the Newton Rayzor Elementary Safe Routes to School sidewalk project at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Development Service Center, 401 N. Elm St.

The city plans to present the project corridors, revised scope and timeline, along with expected construction impacts. Residents, property owners and business owners can meet the project team and contractor and ask questions, according to the meeting notice included in the city’s Oct. 9 staff report.

The project is intended to fill sidewalk gaps and improve walking connections to Newton Rayzor Elementary. Denton is working with the Texas Department of Transportation and the North Central Texas Council of Governments through the Safe Routes to School Grant Program.

The staff report lists planned completion in 2028. That is a forecast, and the Oct. 22 meeting will provide an updated schedule.

The city says it is sending the meeting notice to about 3,500 nearby residents and business owners. All times are Central.
