Baylor defensive lineman Devonte Tezino will miss the rest of the season because of a leg injury suffered Saturday against Prairie View A&M, coach Dave Aranda confirmed after the game. Safety Jacob Redding also has a season-ending injury, leaving Baylor without two starters for the year.
Tezino was hurt on Baylor’s second offensive play from scrimmage when a Prairie View A&M offensive lineman made a cut block. He called for medical personnel and was later taken from the field by cart.
The fifth-year senior from Killeen began the season with two sacks and a tipped pass that led to an interception against Auburn. Aranda said Tezino had been playing the best football of his career before the injury. Tezino appeared in all 12 games last fall, starting seven, after dealing with injuries.
He recorded 24 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one pass breakup that season. In 29 games at Baylor, he has 56 tackles. Baylor has depth on its defensive line.
