Israel Abanikanda is no longer on the Dallas Cowboys’ roster, with Tyler Goodson joining the team from the Atlanta Falcons. The move followed Dallas’ 69-yard rushing performance against the New York Giants in Week 1 and opened a roster spot for Goodson.

Abanikanda, a former Pitt running back, appeared in six NFL games before his release. All six came with the New York Jets in 2023. At Pitt in 2022, he recorded 1,431 rushing yards on 239 carries and scored 20 touchdowns. He did not secure a consistent place in an NFL backfield.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said New York’s defensive front caused problems early, with penetration disrupting the running game and Dallas being outplayed at the line of scrimmage. He also said Javonte Williams struggled to locate open space at the beginning of the game. Schottenheimer said the Cowboys adjusted following halftime. The report was published by Sports Yahoo.
