Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is unlikely to face Louisiana Tech on Saturday as he recovers from an ankle injury, but his status could change before the Bears open Big 12 play against Colorado on Sept. 26. On3's Pete Nakos reported that Lagway is projected to be available for that matchup.
Lagway hurt the ankle in Baylor's 17-16 season-opening loss to Auburn. He remained in the game and threw for 333 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. A wrap was visible on the ankle afterward.
The injury kept him out of Baylor's 44-3 win over Prairie View A&M, with Nate Bennett starting and completing 24 of 36 passes for 314 yards. Bennett also threw three touchdown passes and scored once on the ground.
Baylor coach Dave Aranda said Lagway felt good during a Sunday practice, and the quarterback was set to take part in the team's work during the week. Baylor is monitoring him cautiously before playing Louisiana Tech. Colorado is scheduled to play Northwestern before traveling to Baylor for the Sept. 26 game, set for 10 a.m.
