The Houston Texans placed Henry To'oTo'o on injured reserve before Week 2 after he suffered an apparent shoulder injury against the Buffalo Bills. He exited near the end of the fourth quarter and was later seen with a splint. Coach DeMeco Ryans said To'oTo'o would miss significant time.
The designation was made official Tuesday after Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 and Sports Talk 790 reported Monday night that the move was anticipated. To'oTo'o is projected to be out for a few months, beyond injured reserve's four-game minimum.
Jake Hansen is expected to start with Pro Bowl linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair. Hansen took over for the remainder of the opener, playing seven defensive snaps. Across his first five NFL seasons, he has made four starts and logged 391 defensive snaps.
Wade Woodaz may become the third linebacker and see action in the base defense. He had 22 special teams snaps but no defensive snaps in the opener. Woodaz is recovering from a preseason thumb injury that required surgery and is wearing a protective brace.
Seventh-round pick Aidan Fisher could be available in Week 2 after being inactive for the opener as a healthy scratch. Jamal Hill could be promoted from the practice squad.
