North Texas climbed out of a two-set hole Sunday, then ran out of room to finish the comeback. Temple won the deciding set 15–8 to beat the Mean Green 3–2 in Philadelphia on October 11.
UNT lost the first two sets 25–23 and 25–18 before taking the next two 25–22 and 25–19. The rally put the Denton program one set from a road victory, but Temple controlled the final frame at McGonigle Hall.
The Mean Green finished with 50 kills and eight service aces. Temple produced 61 kills while hitting .252, enough offensive pressure to withstand UNT’s recovery. North Texas fell to 9–8 overall and 2–4 in American Conference play.
The response after falling behind gave UNT a chance; the fifth set kept it from becoming a result. That distinction matters as the conference schedule continues.
