North Texas left the ITA Texas Regional Championships with a doubles quarterfinal appearance and a narrow miss at going further. The Mean Green concluded competition Sunday, October 11, in Waco.

UNT’s deepest-running doubles entry won three straight matches, each by an 8–4 score, against pairs from UT Arlington, SMU and Rice. The SMU pair was seeded second, making that victory a significant step in the Denton program’s run.

The quarterfinal ended with TCU winning 8–7, including a 7–4 tiebreak. According to North Texas’ tournament recap, UNT was one of only two doubles entries from outside the Power Four conferences to reach the last eight.

There was depth beyond that run: another Mean Green doubles entry advanced to the round of 16, and UNT earned two opening-round singles victories. The weekend gave the program several competitive results against opponents from across Texas, even without a semifinal berth.

North Texas’ next tournament is the American Conference Individual Championships in Houston, October 22–25.
