George Odum has received his second practice squad elevation of the season, with the Houston Texans bringing the veteran safety and special teams player back for their game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 reported the move Sept. 19.
Odum played 71% of Houston’s special teams snaps against the Buffalo Bills and made one tackle in the Texans’ 36-31 loss. Caleb Bullock and Reed Blankenship are healthy, but Houston is using Odum for his special teams contributions. Coach DeMeco Ryans previously praised Odum’s playmaking ability during the preseason.
The 2025 season is Odum’s ninth in the NFL. He previously played for the Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers and received one All-Pro honor with each team. The report listed 205 career tackles, three interceptions, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Other career totals listed 209 tackles, three interceptions, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries, along with 12 starts in 109 games.
Odum can be elevated once more under the current arrangement. Houston is scheduled to play the Colts in Week 3 after the Bengals game, potentially making that his final elevation before the Texans would need to add him to the 53-man roster or use another option.
